I was originally inspired to make this design because I wanted something that would mark my membership in the LGBTQIA community and in the fiber community. I also wanted this design to be something that could mark welcoming fiber spaces - as a sticker on the door of a welcoming yarn shop or on the project bag of a maker who is either part of the community or welcoming to all.
I added just a little sparkle to the yarn in the middle because, as a wise drag queen once told me, "Girl, there's no such thing as too much glitter."
This design is different from the original yarn/pride design. I’ve updated the name not only to denote the year it was remade, but also the clearer vision of the piece and hopefully our fiber community. I updated the design because I believe that there’s no pride for some of us without it being pride for ALL of us. While the six color rainbow pride flag is iconic, it’s not inclusive. And I don’t want to be part of pride that doesn’t include everyone.
This design gives back. 50% of profits from every item featuring this design is donated to Lambert House in Seattle. Lambert House is a safe place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth ages 11-22. Our calendar is packed with fun activities, support groups, planning meetings, dances, and other events. Lambert House is where LGBTQ youth make life better for each other. PRODUCTION NOTE : the glitter on this design is not actual glitter. It’s an image of glitter. This might mean a little less sparkle - but it also means that it won’t come off in the wash or transfer to other things.
